I am wildly ecstatic to announce that my debut novel, OF SALT AND SORROWS, has sold in a preempt deal to Delacorte Press! Yay and yippee! Wendy Loggia, Senior Executive Editor at Random House Children’s Books/Delacorte, is my editor and I can’t wait to start working with her! Publication is set for Fall of 2019, though we don’t have exact dates yet. I’m so thrilled to be one of the #Novel19s!
The submission process was nothing like I’d imagined it was going to be. I’ve been incredibly fortunate to have everything happen very fast and I’m so thankful to my agent, Sarah Landis, for being the amazing powerhouse to drive it all forward. After being on sub for about a week, she emailed me early one morning to let me know there was an offer being written. I sat with my husband at our breakfast counter, too excited to eat! Later that day, she called to say to pop the champagne; Wendy made an offer! There was much squealing, tons of happy tears, and lots of dancing around the kitchen with my toddler daughter to Toto. We blessed all the rains down in Africa that afternoon!
Children’s Bookshelf announced the deal last week and my edit letter will be coming in soon. I’m really looking forward to revisiting Highmoor and the People of the Salt. But first, one more squeal of joy– I’m going to be a published author! Hooray!
